I saw some Quaker Oatmeal Squares on sale in the store at an insane price (2 for $5). But I refused to buy any because I remember their BS stance on palm oil use from a year ago. So I wrote to them again. Here’s their current policy. Oh, dont bother. It’s the same as last year’s.:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our use of palm oil and how it impacts both the environment and our company.
We are working everyday within the PepsiCo system to operate in a more sustainable fashion. In particular, we are focusing on reducing our environmental footprint — including energy, water and packaging. We are also seeking to improve the nutritional quality of our portfolio.
As specifically regards palm oil, we are supporting the efforts of our suppliers to address issues related to palm oil. Currently we do utilize palm oil in many of our products, though we are migrating away from its use worldwide in favor of oils lower in saturated fat.
In the U.K. our Walker’s business switched to 100% high-oleic sunflower oil (“Sunseed”) to make their famous crisps. We have also transitioned a number of our Frito-Lay brands in the U.S. We believe this is a step in the right direction.
We encourage our suppliers of palm oil to support sustainable efforts. Cargill, our largest supplier of palm oil, is a member of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil. As a customer, we seek supply-partners who will take responsible actions to address these issues.
Thank you again, Xxx, for your interest in our products and for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated and we’re glad to have yours on record.

Encouraging suppliers, like Cargill, wont do shit to save the rainforest that is destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations. Wonder how much rainforest has been chopped down and orangutans displaced or killed in that year of continued corporate greediness?
Guess I’ll continue my boycott.
