“Gotcha Moment” Defined

Gotcha moment: (noun): when a slow-witted, deer-in-headlights, under-qualified political candidate is confronted with a seemingly easy question about his/her own views, attitudes or habits, yet he/she flails wildly while attempting to dredge up even the most basic of answers; usually occurs while under the white-hot spotlight of TV cameras.

To wit:

TV newsperson:

What newspapers do you regularly read?

Crickets.

Slow-Witted Candidate:

Oh, I see. This is your “gotcha moment!”
